Integrated Care Pathway (ICP MSK)
The Integrated Care Pathway (ICP) is a comprehensive program fully funded for clients with injuries anticipated to necessitate surgical assessment or intervention in three primary body areas: Knee, Shoulder, and Lumbar Spine. These integrated care pathways facilitate streamlined access to connected care within a fully funded framework.
Core components of the ICP MSK program include:
- Comprehensive Physiotherapy Care: Fully funded pre and post-operative physiotherapy management ensuring thorough support.
- Surgeon Assessment and Management: Expert evaluation and ongoing guidance provided by surgeons throughout the patient’s treatment process.
- Vocational Support: Tailored return-to-work planning and assistance to meet individual needs.
- Additional Services: Access to social work, psychology, dietetics, or cultural services as needed, enhancing holistic care.
Return to work programmes
If your injury is keeping you from working, you may be eligible for additional support from ACC to help you return to work.
North City Physiotherapy is proud to partner with ACC Vocational Contract holders to provide ACC’s Vocational Rehabilitation Service.
Who is this service for?
This service is designed to assist individuals with an accepted ACC claim who are currently not working at their full capacity. This includes:
- People who are completely off work
- People who are working but with limitations
- People who are working but considering stopping work due to their injury
What does the service involve?
This fully funded, work-focused rehabilitation service involves collaborating with you, your employer, and your doctors to create a plan for your return to work. We will meet you at your workplace to assess your environment and tasks, ensuring we understand the strength and function required for you to safely resume work.
If you are able to perform modified duties or take on a different role during your recovery, we will discuss these options with you and your employer to develop a suitable plan.
How to Access This Service
If your injury qualifies, your physiotherapist can refer you to the Vocational Rehabilitation Service (VOC). This service is available to individuals with an accepted ACC claim who are receiving, or are likely to be entitled to, weekly compensation due to their injury. The service aims to help people stay at work, return to work, find new employment, or become work-ready.

Training for Independence Programmes
This service is intended to assist individuals in regaining their independence within their community as much as possible after experiencing an injury.
Who Benefits from This Service?
The Training for Independence (TI) services are a key component of ACC’s community rehabilitation offerings. Eligibility hinges on having an ACC claim and receiving authorization from ACC for the TI service.
The program is open to a wide range of individuals, whether they are employed, unemployed, and residing in their own homes
Objectives of the TI Services
The Training for Independence (TI) services aim to:
- Restore and/or maintain your independence and ability to engage in daily activities and community life to the fullest extent possible.
- Minimize your future need for additional rehabilitation.
Each TI service is uniquely tailored to meet individual needs. At the outset, our physiotherapist will meet with you to discuss your goals and then design a personalized plan. This plan may include contributions from other healthcare providers in addition to physiotherapy.
How to Access This Service
To access the TI program, your ACC case manager must refer you through the ACC contract holder, provided you are eligible.

Pain Management

ACC’s Pain Management Service is tailored for individuals experiencing persistent pain lasting three months or longer due to an unresolved ACC injury or those diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).
