The road to recovery starts here…
Here at North City Physiotherapy, we want to see you gain the best result for your injury, ailment or condition.
A quick fix may sound good for your pain or injury, but we have learnt through our extensive experience, this is ineffective and more than likely costlier to you in the long run. This is in comparison to taking preventative measures which will give you a better and more long-term outcome.
Your goals will form your roadmap which is the key to the success to achieve your optimal physical health in the long term. These goals may be related to your rehabilitation, fitness, performance or lifestyle. At North City Physiotherapy we will work with you to create your own tailored roadmap to suit your needs.
We will take a structured approach to help you achieve your goals. Our physiotherapists will equip and empower you with the tools and technique to self-progress outside of the consulting room.
Flexibility and Choice
Normally injury rehabilitation starts with pain and symptom management, then moves to identification and treatment of underlying causes, before transitioning to a strengthening, fitness and lifestyle focus.
It’s important for us and you once your symptoms reduce, we continue to work on your rehabilitation to get the long-term sustainable outcome, which is a much more comprehensive approach than a quick fix.
Pain Phase:
In this phase we will be looking to reduce your symptoms. Generally, this is called the acute and subacute phase of an injury. We will do this by using hands-on treatment including soft tissue work, manipulative therapy, usage of taping for example, as well as exercises and education to improve your status. Your physiotherapist usually needs to see you frequently during this phase to achieve the best results. For some, it may be necessary in this phase to refer you on for radiology or to specialists and perhaps even consult with your GP. We will be doing everything we can in this phase to help relieve and reduce your symptoms.
Function Phase:
Now that your symptoms have settled we want to get you functional again and back to your pre-injury activities, as defined in your goals. This will usually involve some more hands on treatment to facilitate your function but a carefully structured exercise programme with appropriate progressions.
Performance/Prevention/Wellness Phase:
This where we will focus on achieving long-term results through prevention strategies which can include fitness, performance rehabilitation, and lifestyle coaching. This is a very important phase to ensure you reduce the risk of recurrence of your injury and gain optimal physical health.
This is no better explained with our progress pyramid:
So our goal with every patient and rehabilitation plan is to get you to reclaim your health. So where would you like to be?
